5 Pearls of Wisdom to Take Into 2023
This year is coming to a close soon, and like many people, you’re probably excited about what the new year will hold—new opportunities, new love interests, etc. You may also reflect on the year that you’ve had in 2022, the good and not-so-good, and how you can be a better person in the upcoming year. As you’re thinking about what’s to come in the next 12 months, consider taking these five pearls of wisdom with you into 2023:
Embrace change
By nature, we are creatures of routine because it's comforting to have a schedule that's predictable. However, it's important to remember that things change and new routines may have to be established. With that said, it's a good chance that your current life circumstances may not be exactly the same next year, and you might have to step out of your comfort zone to adapt to them. I know it can seem scary, but don't be afraid of change—embrace it. It's through change that we grow, and it's through growth that we evolve. As you enter the new year, keep your mind open and welcome the new opportunities that come knocking at your door.
Be intentional with your life
Does it feel like you've spent all of this year living with no direction or purpose? If so, you need to be intentional about your life for the year 2023. Be intentional with finding your purpose in this world. Be intentional with your goals. Be intentional in creating a life that you want, doing the things that you love and are passionate about. There are many benefits to living intentionally such as reduced stress, profound satisfaction, and fulfillment. Put your health and well-being first
If you've spent this year taking care of everyone else but yourself, do not repeat that same behavior in the upcoming year. It's great that you want to help those around you, but you have to take care of yourself first; after all, you cannot pour from an empty cup. Pay attention to your body—it will let you know when you need self-care. Try your best to live a healthy lifestyle, one that nurtures your physical, mental, and emotional health.
Do more of what you love
If it's one thing that we can all agree on, it's that life is very short. That said, make it a goal to do more of what you love all of 2023. Not only will doing more of what you love boost your mood, it can also improve your heart health and add years to your life. So spend more time working on your hobbies and other interests because there is much more to life than just working to pay bills.
Just be kind
The past few years have been hard on many of us, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some have lost jobs, homes, and loved ones—and are still struggling to recoup. It costs nothing but your time to go out of your way to do something kind for someone, so please take the opportunity when it presents itself; you never know how much it can lift a person's spirits. Being kind to others can benefit you, too. Research shows that being kind can give you a boost of happiness, so it's a win for you and the person you are showing kindness towards!
Bottom Line
Whether you're the type of person to make a New Year's resolution or not, you should consider implementing these five pearls of wisdom in your everyday life in 2023, as the benefits can have positive long-lasting effects.
